Let's School is a campus management simulation game, offering a blend of simulation and strategy. In the game, the player assumes control of a school principal, who must build the campus from scratch, design the curriculum for each form, recruit teachers, and manage crises.Stephanie Liu from Siliconera wrote that "while Let's School is a lot of fun and has a lot of cute ideas, its implementation can sometimes be rough", and added that its "charm doesn't last long before it becomes a monotonous routine".According to Metacritic, Let's School received "mixed or average" reviews.Jade Sayers from Push Square felt that the game "misses out on any humanity by treating the school purely as a business", turning an otherwise enjoyable game into "another cog in the machine, taking away any individuality and losing the benefit of having the setting in a school environment by treating school life as purely transactional".

From exams to social drama to the occasional run-in with a schoolyard bully, everyone had a bit of a hard time, but spare a thought to the poor headteachers who had to keep a building full of hormonal teenagers from descending into utter chaos. Let’s School from Pathea Games (My Time at Sandrock) gives a nod to these brave individuals and shows just how bogged down in bureaucracy everyone’s headteacher really is.The gameplay of Let’s School isn’t that different from other management sims like Two Point Campus. You inherit a rundown school from your old headteacher and are tasked with helping it achieve greatness once again. It is much more mercurial than games like Two Point Campus, which mostly handwave this sort of detail, but we enjoyed it far more than we expected to. Let’s School highlights how schools, despite being there to help students achieve their academic and extracurricular goals, are still businesses.Between designing class schedules and ensuring your students and staff have the usual essentials like places to eat, drink, and relieve themselves, there is a hefty research tree to dive into that will allow you to unlock new courses and new features at your school. This is yet another balancing act as you have to assign your valuable teachers to the research centre, which means you have one less educator to impart knowledge to your classes. You will also have the chance to train up teachers to ensure that they are skilled enough to handle more advanced subjects as your students progress through the years, though the process can be slow until you unlock higher tiers of your research tree. ... Let’s School is incredibly basic to look at, but that isn’t the real problem with the visuals.
Managing a school has long been a premise that intrigued me. Sadly, it’s also a premise that rarely gets explored in gaming with any amount of actual depth. So I was quite surprised when I ran into Let’s School by Chinese developer Pathea.
Most of all though, I love the overall setting for the school. It really captures that rural Japanese look & feel. With the wooden buildings, old-timey roofs, and the nice mix of nature and urban environments. Though you can eventually choose to westernize if you so desire. As a management sim, Let’s School is approachable but quite challenging. All this served to make Let’s School a very addicting experience. But as I sank dozens of hours into the game, it didn’t take long for some cracks to show. First and foremost, Let’s School doesn’t feel alive enough. Especially when it comes to the students, it feels like the game really isn’t simulating enough.Let’s School is also no stranger to bugs and jank. A lot of which just feels plain shoddy. Like during the opening ceremonies for each week, the text doesn’t always fit in the speech bubbles and regularly trails off-camera. Every time I load a save or a week passed I would be bombarded with pop-up messages that didn’t actually relate to anything.Yet despite these and other shortcomings, I found it hard to pry myself away from Let’s School. Even when I wasn’t playing it, I’d randomly come up with ideas for how to tackle some problem I was facing in the game and want to fire it up again. In that sense, it’s a brilliant management sim.

Let's School is a school management simulation that focuses a lot less on the kids and education, and a lot more on running a business..
Simulation games can either be an idyllic reimagining of real life or an unerringly accurate, for better or for worse, depiction of reality. Let’s School combines the two in a game that encapsulates the nightmarish bureaucracy of being a headmaster in an Asian private school with none of the rewards that come with a career in education.Though it’s fun and the ideas are solid, issues with the coding and tuning can make this school totally uncool. (Yes, it hurt me to make that joke.) ... Let’s School is a rags-to-riches story in which you play as the headmaster of a run-down school. Your goal, of course, is to transform it into the best education institution in the region.Let me explain what I mean. I organized my school so that all the first years are on the first floor, the second years on the second, and the third years on the third. However, every time the game moves my kids up a year, they remain in the same classroom. So all the new second years are still on the first floor and all the first years coming in will be on the third floor, since they take over the old third years’ classrooms. But the lack of agency when it comes to basic things like naming my classrooms had me ripping my hair out every new semester. How I organized my school feels like a really stereotypical way to do so. So it’s unfathomable to me that a simulation game that’s supposed to let me experience life as a headmaster isn’t able to re-enact one of the most basic functions of a school.

Pathea Games’ Let’s School brings school management with cozy vibes. Check out Keiran’s review here!
While Two Point Campus is lovely in that comedic vein Theme Hospital had, I think Let’s School fits my aspirations better. I don’t want to ruin someone’s life at the end of their educational career. I want to do it as early as I possibly can! Being Dyslexic and often viewing my time in education as (to delicately put it) “crap,” I often find myself in cycles figuring out what could have been done better. You’ll be building the school up, gaining reputation, and in a recent “Semester update,” building inter-school relationships with other head teachers, planning afterschool clubs, as well as community building. However, I’m overlooking the one thing that a lot of games seem to forget now, graphs and tables I don’t understand. Developed by Chinese studio Pathea Games, known for My Time at Sandrock and My Time at Portia, Let’s School also takes a private or Asian-centric idea to school in several respects.Far more business-centric, there is a hands-off approach I’ve found to be more productive to success, both for the business and for the students. In an attempt to see as much of Let’s School as I could in the weeks we’ve had with the latest update, I ran multiple saves both in the campaign and the obligatory sandbox mode we all expect and appreciate from management titles.Again, until you are playing the omnipotent god of school, you feel hands-off with the kids – not that anyone needs to be hands-on like a 70s BBC presenter, “allegedly.” · Let’s School is beautiful in its art direction and simple in its gameplay design for a management title, which is sad to say.
